Our History and Mission
RCultures, Inc. is a privately held corporation founded by its owner Rick Caldwell. Rick’s work creating opportunity for all started in 1999 when he was selected as an Equal Opportunity Advisor for the Marine Corps. After successfully graduating from the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute in Cocoa Beach, Florida, Rick immediately developed curriculum and provided training to Marines; who operate as a complex culture with specialized languages, traditions and codes of conduct. This hands-on, interactive workshop allowed Rick to design an interactive curriculum that teaches participants to view each individual as a unique culture and provides tools to more competently provide a culturally proficient workplace. His degree in adult education and curriculum with business management and his passion in human relations is the driving force behind our organization.
Some of the best years in life are the times spent as a child and later on in our collegiate years. As working adults in a fast paced society, we sometimes forget just how precious and powerful those years are. With that in mind, think about some of the things that were placed in your mind during those precious years. At RCultures, we like to call these things our tape recorders. Our mission at RCultures is to:
“Provide the necessary tools and applications that will enable individuals to turn off their tape recorders and place emphasis on time, comfort, and trust.”
The more time you spend with someone not like you, the more comfortable you become which will of course bring trust into the relationship so you can work effectively regardless of cultural differences. Now imagine this at a cost less than that of the combination of conventional diversity training that usually leads to race and color issues only. At RCultures our focus is moving people towards a positive direction. We live by the famous quote of Martin Luther King who said:
“If you want to move people, it has to be toward a vision that’s positive for them, that taps important values, that gives them something they desire and it has to be presented in a compelling way that they feel inspired to follow.”
